Christmas in Prescott. family owned and operated Christmas Store! Meet Owners Edward & Donna Albus, Connie Albus.
Walk into any big-box store, pick up an item at random off the shelf, and look at the label. Chances are you’ll see the same three words on the tag: “Made in China.” Depending on the product, it might read “Made in Mexico” or “Made in Taiwan” – but it almost certainly won’t say “Made in the USA.” It wasn’t always this way. Decades ago, many or even most products on store shelves were American-made. But since the late 1990s, American manufacturing has seen a steady decline. Many U.S. companies have moved their factories – and the jobs they provided – to other countries where labor is cheaper, such as China and Mexico. However, there are some signs this trend is starting to reverse itself. The Reshoring Initiative, a nonprofit group aimed at restoring American manufacturing jobs, reports that more than 300 companies have moved production back to the United States since 2010, creating about 240,000 new jobs. As a result, that “Made in USA” label – though still rare – is slowly making its way back onto more products. 80% of American shoppers say they prefer to buy goods made in the United States. More than 60% say they’d even be willing to pay 10% more for an American-made product. It probably isn’t possible for everything you buy to be made in the United States. Some types of goods are harder to find than others, and sometimes you simply have to make cost and quality your top priorities. But in other cases, when it comes to a choice between two products that are very evenly matched in most ways, choosing the one that’s made in the U.S. is one small way for you to support American workers and help our economy grow stronger.

– “We started with our physical store in Prescott in 2005 and opened our online store in 2009. Our website has been such a success and it was time for Donna to retire at 75 years old (well, mostly retired, she still enjoys working part-time shipping orders) that we chose to close down our physical retail store in Jan 2016 and concentrate on our online store.

We specialize in Christmas Ornaments and gifts, plus some year round gifts and decorations. We are located in the beautiful mountain community of Prescott, Az located in the center of Yavapai county in central Arizona. Arizona is located in the Southwest U.S. (between Southern California and New Mexico).

Our Story: Eleven years ago, at an age when most people are retiring, my husband Ed and I (Donna) started a Christmas décor business. Why? Good question! We were considering different options to bring in needed retirement income. I had long dreamed of a Christmas store since it has always been a special time of year for our family. And I thought “How wonderful would it be to have Christmas all year around!”

After examining the possibility of starting this type of business, we decided to sell the Dog Grooming business we had for over 20 years and open this little Mom and Pop store. This is an excellent way to slow down and partially retire, we thought. I was 65 years old, and Ed was 70. (Continue reading ….. See Our Blog for our “long” story or Our Story for the shorter version to learn more about our history.)

Our Pricing Philosophy: We are dedicated to customer service, fair pricing and competitive shipping rates and return policies. We never give false MSRP/Retail prices to make items look like they are on sale.”
